FRIDAY? - Ika Srilinggawati / 090110101065

“Uhhuuyy… Diving? When?” Jane asks impatiently to me, until she jumps pleasantly from the sofa in the corner of my bedroom where she had been sitting and reading the Harry Potter, cast it into the bed and pressed my nose in disdain. She knew I hated my nose punched anyone, which is sharp enough. But she likes to tease me with it.
Jane is my friendship. We were like sisters. She just came here, to my home a week ago. He greatly admired Malang, my beloved city. The cool weather of Malang made she feels at home. Though sometimes she would feel cold because Kawi mountain’s air at night. Understandably, my house was under a mountain of Kawi. In the morning, the cool mist always transformed into drops of dew. The sun appears shy on race morning with birds chirping in replication. Furthermore, the people are friendly adorning daily grind. Jane will be very amazed this atmosphere. The atmosphere which is seldom she met in Aussie.
Yes, Jane is my best friend when I finished my college degree in Aussie, at Curtin University. Finally, after four years I lived there, I successfully got my degree. It was not an easy struggle, but I have to choose it. Indeed, college is not as easy as turning the palm of the hand. Father and mother sent me there because my twin brother, both of them, took their degree in Curtin University too. Even, my father and my grandfather. Fuih, he said this is our family tradition. Actually, I dislike it. Uh, no, I mean I dislike my family tradition. Or, whatever they said. Just like a foolish. Actually I prefer to study in Indonesia, or at least in Malang. Here are also many universities have good quality. But what can I do? One in a thousand. I was just a Reynata Adiana Prayoga. A punk sweet girl, so both of my twins brother often making fun of me, that because of  my stubborn,  I was sent to Aussie. But, it does not mean I do not respect them. I'm very proud with my family. My Father, Bagus Wijaya Prayoga, although it has a myriad of busy taking care of business offices and home industry “tempe chips” are quite famous in this area, and even outside the city of Malang, but still have more concern for his wife and children. My mother, Fadilla Adiana, which now became Mrs. Prayoga, is a gentle figure of mother and affectionate. She was able to educate their children, but not with excessive pampering. Do not miss my twin brothers, Dylan Adiano Prayoga and Dion Wijaya Prayoga. I like call them "double D". Now, Dylan is in America. He takes his Master of Business there. While Dio, he did not like business. He is very crazy in photography. Oh God, everywhere and every time he brings his camera on.
“So, when will we go?” Jane asks me again.
“Uhmm… next year,” I answer innocently.
“What? Don’t make a joke again dear,” Jane smiles.
“So? After Kawi erupted? Do you want to see it?” I ask her with play the fool.
“Oh, come on Rey. It’s just an inexplosive mountain, isn’t it?”
I laughed at what she has been said. I did enjoy teasing her. I know Jane madly aspire in diving, like me. In her first arrival in Indonesia she wants to know beaches in my city. So, I have a plan for diving with Jane.
“Okay, tomorrow we’ll go. But, I’m not asking permission yet to my mother. Don’t   worry, she know us very well. Hehehe…”
“Only us?” asked Jane.
“With Dio.. You know he crazy about photography. It is not complete if he doesn’t accompanying us, isn’t it?
“Yeah,” Jane split sides.
**
Dio appears from his room. Not usually he looks a bit glum. His face shows how tired he was. But, his hair that a bit disheveled not reduce his handsome.
“Hi, half D, do you want a cup coffee?” I offered him.
“Yeah, may be it can makes you look fresh again,” Jane added me.
“Thanks girls. But, half D?” He looks confused.
“Dylan doesn’t here, right? So, I call you “half D,” I laugh in tease.
“Ooh my little baby,” He comes to us and shakes my hair. Ah, an old usual.
“I have a plan for diving tomorrow. As long as I have time. You haven’t any activities, have you?” I ask Dion and waiting for his answer. He needs to think for a moment.
“Uhmm… Okay. It is a good idea. I’ll prepare next. I need refresh my mind, too.”
Jane and I smile. “You look so tired, Dude? What have you done?” Jane asks to him.
“As usual, I have to do my job. My boss asked me to sent and edit many photos for our company advertisement. Fortunately, I can do it at home. Monday is the deadline and I have just finished it. Tomorrow till Sunday I am free, so I can go with you. ”
“Good boy, you are in time. I am proud of you.”
            “Thanks, Jane.”
“Oh, my innocent boy, what about my photos last week?” I asked him anxiously.
“Nice. Dylan and his friend like it. You know, Errick fascinates to you,” He is laughing.
“What? So, you sent it to Dylan?” I startled.
“Why not? He said that he missed you so I sent it to him. He printed and hang it on his     room wall,” Dio said innocently.
“Oh,Gosh.” My cheeks reddened when I imagine my picture taken secretly by Dio. My picture when I sleep. He likes to nosy. Worse, I had a bad habit when I sleep. I like sucking my thumb like a suckling child. Oh, Double D. Dylan is rather quiet and serious, while Dio is the man who likes jokes. Two fits combination. I really glad have two brothers like them.
“Ok, forget it boy,” I try not to care about it.
Jane who'd just smile looks at my act suddenly says, “Look, Mom is coming,” she says while looking at my mother out of the car. She smiles to us.
“Nice day, boy and girls?” Mom asks hospitality.
“Really nice, Mom,” I answer confidently.
"Ok, the time for dinner momentarily. I brought something for you. Thirty minutes again I am waiting at the dining room. It is rather lonely without Daddy and Dylan," Mom said as she pinched my cheek and smiled at Jane and Dion.
It's been three days Daddy has a service out of town. So, just four people at this home. Mommy, Dion, Jane, and I. Oh, almost forget, a maid and a driver too, who have for years been devoted to our family. Then we also hurried move from the porch. The sun began to creep into dusk creates a beautiful silhouette and magenta. Tinge of orange red color bounces as far as the eye could see. Of course, this did not escape from Dion’s camera shots.
**
Rain outside. The cold weather makes me close the jacket I was wearing. I looked out the window. The droplets of water fall on the window. I glanced at the clock on my table. Ah, ten p.m. now. Out of there no one who appeared. The coffee shop in front of my house which is usually too crowded, either by buyers or just people sitting around doing nothing, now closed. I only hear the singing frogs that have a fun. Apparently the rain makes people lazy to get out. All of dweller in this house had gone to bed earlier. I took a deep breath. Tomorrow is Friday. I, Dio, and Jane will get an early start to the Sempu Sea. Fortunately, Mommy permits us, although with a little debate. I remember my mother's made face.
“Mom, tomorrow I, Jane, and Dio will go to Sempu. We want to dive because I have       promised to Jane, asking her for diving,” I said in soft of voice.
“Sempu? Why do tomorrow? Could you do it in another day? You know, tomorrow is Friday,” Mom said worriedly.
“What will happen in Friday, Mom? We are not children again,” I assured her.
“Mom, this is our planning,” Dio added me. “Don’t worry, Mom. We know you really hate if we go to sea on Friday. I think it just an old believe. Come on, Mom. Forget what have happened in the past.”
“Yeah. But, you know boy, I’m still worry about you, Dylan, and Rey. My beloved children. Am I looking phobia in Friday?”
“Mom, what has happened to grandpa and grandma is not your fault. It’s their destiny. It was just an accident. Dad, Dylan, Dio and I believe you,” I assured her again.
It was quiet. Dio took a deep breath and exhale slowly. We do not know why Mommy still can not accept that fact. The fact that the death of my grandparent is an accident. An accident five years ago, on Friday. But Mommy kept regretting and blaming herself. She thought the accident was a result of his actions. At that time daddy, mommy, grandpa, grandma and I went to Sendangbiru beach. Dylan and Dio did not participate because they were still in Aussie. We really wanted to ride a fishing boat sailed beautifully though only briefly Sendangbiru. After coming back from there mom was driving. The streets are steep, winding uphill and makes the car a little shaky. Plus the atmosphere was bright turned into a cloudy and light rain began to fall. Still, mama does not reduce the speed of the car. Suddenly, in the winding road the rear wheels got a flat tire and the car shaking. From the opposite set of the sail, a truck carrying fish speeding anyway. Mama did not get the brakes and the crash happened. It happened so fast. As soon realized I was in hospital. The sad news came, my grandfather and grandmother died. They suffered a brain hemorrhage that is not saved. Since then my mother began to blame herself. Moreover, coupled with the words of one of our neighbors that went to sea on Friday could resulting a bad thing.
“Mom,” Dio broke the silence. “All is well.”
“Well?” Mom saw us in silence. She took a deep breath. “Okay, I permit you if you want to go tomorrow. How long?”
“Three days. We’ll home in Sunday. We are backpacker, Mom. Thank you so much, Mom. All is going well. Our destiny is ours,” I kissed her cheek.
Finally, I and Dio succeed to persuade her. I don’t know why people around me, in Kawi or in other place still believe in a myth. Or is it Javanese culture? Ah, I can not wait for tomorrow morning. I can not wait to get pass the forty-miles trip to the south of Malang, where the Sempu sea located. I can not wait to enjoy the crashing waves. Taste salty seawater and unite with a small wave ripples. I can not wait to stroke coral reefs, which I hope has not been corrupted by the hands of ignorant people. I can not wait to see Jane screams freely. Sempu, I hope you are welcoming my arrival. My love of the sea will never be replaced even though millions of myth into spice in every story. And, more torrential rain outside. As torrent as people are talking about the arrogance of  Kawi mountain towering stand upright.
